In all the craziness that is my life lately, I have squeezed in some scrapping and I thought I'd catch you all up on what I've been making.
I don't usually make our calendars so elaborate (nor will I probably print this one) but as part of the Calendar Challenge at STS, I made up this August Calendar.
Kit: Day by Day by Digilicious Designs
It seems that we always witness a cowboy being carried out of the arena when we go to the rodeo in West Yellowstone and our last trip was no different. There's a moment of pure prayer and hope when you see a cowboy laying in the dirt. Your heart hurts and you simply pray for his safety and his life. I did this as part of a speed scrap at STS.
Kit: Delightful by Adriana's Cafe
Camping is, of course, one of our favorite things to do and since one of the challenges at 9th & Bloom this month was to scrapbook your children making memories without including your children in the photos, this was the route I took.
Kits: In the Woods: Summer Camp & In the Woods: The Good Life by Alissa Jones
Last week we spent some time at the lake and Izzy begged to be able to sharpen her own cooking stick. We usually tell her no but since her argument was so good this time, we decided to let her. So after a short knife safety lesson, she went to work and she carved a mighty fine cooking stick!
Kit: Color Bloom by Every Ever After Moment Designs
While we were out at the lake, we happened upon some beautiful bucks. I love how this photo turned out so I used it as part of the Featured Designer Challenge at STS this month.
Another great capture from the lake were the flowers on the lake. BEAUTIFUL! The Twitter Challenge at STS this month was to use the word "awesome" on our layouts thus this layout was born.
Kit: Camping In Style by the 9th & Bloom Design Team
I had forgotten about a speed scrap that was happening last week until I was looking at the gallery and saw that there were so many layouts that had the same look. Luckily, I saw it when there was still 10 minutes left of the speed scrap. So I whipped PSE open and worked furiously to get this layout done and uploaded within that 10 minutes.
Yep, I know I've scrapped those pictures of Lexi a few times but one of the challenges at 9th & Bloom this month was to convert a color photo to black & white so since I had the photos out for that challenge, I decided to scrap with them again. Here's my before and after conversion.
I still like the color one better but the b&w turned out alright.
Another of the challenges at 9th & Bloom was a scraplift challenge so I used my newly converted photo to create this next layout.
Kit: Make A Wish by Secret Stash
And since I had those photos open, I was converting a few of them to see which I liked best and this next photo is the one Andy like best. There was a challenge at 9th & Bloom to remake a layout from when you first started digital scrapbooking and this photo was the perfect choice because I've never really loved the original layout I made with it. It looked like this...
I love the photo blend but the rest of the page is pretty sad.
This is the redo...
Kit: Hopes & Dreams by Secret Stash
There was a template challenge at 9th & Bloom as well and since I was in challenge mode this week, I tackled it and made this layout about my nephew's birth day.
Kit: You Rock by Agnesingap Designs
And since I scrapped, Luke, I had to scrap Makalyn and I love, love, love these pictures of her playing at the park here.
Kit: Bahama Mama by A+ Designs (releasing tomorrow at GP)
I also wanted to play with my new kit, Solitude, yesterday so I made this layout for the Quote Challenge at STS. I have to just say that this is by far my most favorite kit I've ever made. I'm not usually a pastels kind of girl but this kit just makes me happy.
Kit: Solitude by Wendy Tunison
There was a scraplift challenge at STS this month that used one of my most favorite layouts as the inspiration so I was happy to jump on the bandwagon and scraplift it. These are pics from a night at the rodeo in West last month. This is my little brother. He was the first cowboy to ride a bull this season and he happened to do it when I was there to see it. He freakin' rocks! Seriously. Lexi recorded the ride and she said she couldn't hear anything but me and my mom screaming the whole time. I think she's right because I think I could taste blood in my throat afterwards. It's so exciting to watch him ride.
Kit: Hero Of TheDay by Aimee Harrison Design Studio
Here's the video (I love how he celebrates at the end although I think Lexi missed a lot of that):
I also have some exciting news regarding the This Scrapper's Got Talent contest at STS. I tied for 2nd place! WAHOO! This was so much fun and I highly recommend it to any scrapper who wants to push themselves outside their comfort zone. It was well worth it and the talent that was shown during this competition just totally blew me away. It was awesome!
And lastly, but not leastly (ha ha), Scraps N' Pieces has a new kit coming out called Born To Be Wild. It's a motorcycle themed kit but is so versatile you could use it for anything. The layouts the rest of the CT made with this kit just blew me away and the pieces of this kit made it an instant favorite for me. So grab it if you're into bikes. Grab it if you like grunge. Grab it if you have black & white photos to work with. Just go grab it. It's that good, I promise! And if you grab it in the next 3 days you'll get it at the low price of $2.50!
The first layout I made with it is about my other brother and one of the word arts in the kit just made me think of him. I took this picture a couple of years ago when we met up with him a few towns away and spent the day at the river with him and his girlfriend. I'd never seen him so happy and it looked dang good on him.
This next one is all about Izzy and how she perfect Redneck Riding. I walked outside one day and this is what I saw.... a little blonde girl in her underwear with one shoe on and a mud trail up her back. Of course I grabbed my camera. One day she'll need some pictures for the Senior Slideshow! LOL!
And of course, I also made a freebie for you!
You can download it here and you can find even more about this kit here as well as more freebies made by the SNP CT. Enjoy!
Have a great day!
