A Few Christmas Gifts...

A Few Beading Projects

  So I have this other hobby that I secretly love.  I do it whenever I get a chance or whenever I can't think stamping or scrapping.  I do it when I'm sitting in front of the tv.  I do it when I can't sleep at night.  I encourage my girls to do it so that I have another excuse to do it.  It's just one of those things that I love.  I have no obligation to do it and I have no deadlines to meet.  I just love to do it.  It's beading and I will admit that I'm a tad bit hooked.

These are some of the projects I've made lately.  There are bracelets, necklaces and ornaments.  Hope you like.

       

   

         

A Beaded Needle Case and a tired rear end

I spent all day yesterday working on one little project....it's only about 3 inches tall and about 1 inch wide but it sure was a lot of work!  I started it Friday night and stitched about 3 rows and called it a night.  Saturday morning I got up and parked myself at the dining room table and started again.  I called my sister (or she called me....can't remember at this point) and put her on speaker phone and beaded all day long!  We took a little break from our idle chatter and called mom to discuss our vacation plans for this summer and then called eachother back again to chat a little longer.  In that time, she created a beautiful baby card, nursed her baby, changed diapers, entertained her son and even ate lunch.  I sat on my rear end and just kept adding bead by bead until my little needle case was done.  I just finished cleaning up all my beading supplies when Andy walked through the door at 7pm. 

I could hardly move and my butt was beyond sore but I got it done and I'm so excited to say that I did it without a pattern and without any idea how to do it when I started.  I just grabbed one color and was going to make the entire case the same color but then decided to throw in a band of this and then I had to try another color and then I spotted some fun triangle beads so I figured I could throw those in too!  LOL!  It turned out nothing like I had planned, but it is fun and finished and that's what counts!

Busy Beading

I have been trying to spend a little less time in my craft house this year and a little more time in the house with my girls after school....so we have found a hobby that we can all do together and I have found something that I can do in front of the tv after they've gone to bed.  I'm a night owl and I get nervous if I leave the girls in the house asleep and go out to the craft house so beading has become my night hobby.  LOL!    These are a few things I've completed lately...

Fun Feet!

Each Friday, my girls have been taking a beading class and they love it!  Last week they made barefoot shoes.  It brought back memories of my mom's jewelry and how I longed for her ring/bracelet combination.  Basically the girls made anklets that extend over their feet and around one toe.  These were a big hit and since Friday, we've made 7 more at our house! 

Some Beading Projects

Two weeks ago my friend Kerri and I went to a beading class at the local bead shop, Boho Beads, and I'm telling you that I am officially hooked!  I have been a beading maniac ever since.  I have been back to the bead shop at least 5 times since then and have found beading to be a very relaxing break from scrapping and stamping.

On top of all of that, my girls like to do it too and I am comfortable with Izzy getting into these supplies much more than I am with her getting into my scrap supplies.  I bought her some memory wire and she has been making her own bracelets ever since!  LOL!  It's so nice to have something that they enjoy as well.

These are a few things I've completed since that first class two weeks ago.  I only took pictures of the things I could find right now.  I have also made each of the girls 2 bracelets each and they have made themselves 3 bracelets and a ring each that I didn't get pictures of yet.

The colors don't show up the right way in the pictures so they may look a little funny but I promise they look much better in person...guess I need to learn how to photograph these better.  The last picture is a snowflake Kaylee made during scrap class last week.  She kept herself busy and it turned out beautifully!  She is so stinkin' creative!
