I heard a rumor that PSE11 has a new actions interface that is more like the interface in CS that will make using your actions a whole lot easier! Whoot! I thought I'd share a little tip that I use for organizing my actions in CS that may make things easier for you to find.
First of all, you'll need to load your actions. Simply click on the action menu button and select the option "Load Actions..."
You can now browse to whichever folder you've saved your actions on your computer and select the action you'd like to install. Keep in mind that actions are .ATN files and will be the only ones you can load into the action bin. Once you've found your action, go ahead and open it. If you do this with a lot of actions, this will leave you with a crazy and overwhelming list of actions that have no rhyme or reason.
My solution for this was to create action sets. I've divided mine by action designer but you could sort yours any way you like. Perhaps you want all of your chipboard actions in one set and all of your glitter actions in another set and yet another set for photo editing actions. The sky is the limit. You can really create your sets any way you choose. To create a new set (or a folder if you prefer to think of them that way), you can simply select "New Set" from your action menu.
You should get a pop up now that allows you to name your new set. Don't worry, if you decide you want to rename it later you can but for now go ahead and rename it with the sorting set you'd like to start creating.
I've named mine with the action designer's name since that is how I remember my actions.
Now we'll need to add the actions to the set. Simply click on the drop down button next to the action you want to sort. I'm going to move the Cold Days action into the Night Fate Actions set so that it is in a folder with the rest of that designer's actions. In order to do that, I'll click on the drop down button next to "set 8 - cold Days by night-fate" and it will show me the action(s) that are in that set. I can now rename them by double clicking on the name or I can leave them as they are named.
Once I've revealed the action, I'll simply drag it up into the sort set I want to save it in. In my case, Night Fate Actions. You can alphabetize them in the set or simply drop everything in there. It's up to you how organized you want to be.
Now you can simply delete the set you moved the action from since it is now an empty set. Simply click on the set and click on the trash can in the lower corner of the action bin. Simple as that! Happy organizing!
